Baby Will Not Sleep
- A baby refusing to sleep could be entirely frustrating to any parent. You don’t want your child to become over exhausted and sick but when baby won’t sleep there is not a lot you can do.
There usually is a reason for a baby refusing to sleep but it is very hard to determine for each baby. Sometimes as the mother you know best what is causing the problems.
Young babies are not on a routine or anything yet. So your bed time might not be their bed time.
A baby refusing to sleep might just mean baby is just not ready to. As a mother you might need to adjust your schedule around your baby’s sleep patterns. A baby will not sleep if it is not tired. If it has been several hours, more than 12 and your baby won’t sleep then is the time to contact your doctor and ask about it.
Keep in mind that if the baby won’t sleep for a long time that he or she could be coming down with something.
Watch for other symptoms other than baby refuses to sleep. If you notice any fever, reduced wet diapers or if he or she is not eating then take the baby to the doctor to have your baby checked out. Baby will not sleep much if he or she is sick.
If your baby is a year or older, has been sleeping on his or her own for a while on a schedule and then suddenly refuses to sleep, make sure nothing else is wrong. If he is not sick, then put baby to bed and leave him alone. If he cries, let him cry for a while.
A baby refuses sleep sometimes is just over tired. He might tucker out after a couple of hours. If you can stand it for a couple of days, baby will learn that he simply can’t continue fighting each time. It makes everyone unhappy. Just try it should work.
