Treat Eye Infection
- In order to properly treat eye infection, antibiotic drops are recommended along with other methods such as oral antihistamines.
It is suggested, however, that you check with your doctor before administering any sort of eye infection treatment so as to ensure you are taking part in the right form of treatment for your specific condition and so that conditions do not worsen due to improper treatment techniques. You wouldn’t want to create a worse situation for your ocular health because you were not informed about the proper way to treat your eye infection.
There are many different types of eye infection causes that can create an annoying, persistent itching and watery redness of the eyes. Some of the most common causes of eye infections and their problems include “pink eye” or bacterial conjunctivitis which is recognized by a red eye with a yellow eye discharge, viral conjunctivitis which is a red eye without discharge but accompanied by a cold, allergic conjunctivitis which is a red eye with a watery discharge, corneal abrasion which is caused by a foreign object in the eye, and preoribital cellulitis which is the reddening of the skin around the eye and swelling of eye tissue which represents an infection of the tissue around the eye.
Eye infection drops are sometimes recommended to suit some of these afflictions, but some are more serious and require surgical precision to obtain the cause and solve the problem. The best way to decipher as to which remedy is best suited for your ocular situation is to consult with your eye doctor.
It is especially recommended that you call your doctor immediately if there is a history of direct or blunt trauma, blurry vision after any trauma, and swollen eyelids with redness of the eyelid, constant tearing or blinking of the eye, and the possibility of any alien object in the eye. These are all generally considered emergencies and should be sought to immediately.
